Dear Curriki Community,
Recently, I was given an invitation to become a regular blogger for the Huffington Post. I am truly excited about this opportunity as it will allow me to share the Curriki vision of using technology as a tool to connect millions of educators and students across the globe with world class educational resources and collaboration sharing tools with a much broader audience.
I welcome you to read and comment on my first post, “The Disruptive Innovation of Curricula 2.0,” where I discuss how technologies such as Curriki are become true game-changers in education (and publishing!) and how to guarantee the sustainability of open source education solutions. In addition, I welcome you to write comments on the post so that I, as well as other education technology enthusiasts, can respond.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you on Curriki!
Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara “Bobbi” Kurshan,
Executive Director, Curriki
Excerpt from blog post:
In this age of rampant information sharing, why aren’t educational materials as ‘open’ as some other things – like some computer code? This is the question that Scott McNealy, who revolutionized software development with Sun Microsystems, asked himself about instructional materials while he was trying to find a way to explain electricity to one of his school-aged sons. As he wrestled with this question, he came up with an idea. Why not apply the same collaborative spirit that drives the open source software world to K-12 education material?
